SKOTT REMAIN

For the b-side to ‘Mermaid’, Skott releases the captivating left-field pop of ‘Remain’. It’s an oscillating piece of electronic wonderment that takes its cues from video game soundtrack composition and Skott’s own unorthodox style that we’ve been raving about since her debut follow-up ‘Wolf’. Through the icy textures and warped vocals, Skott takes a retrospective look at her first love and its ultimate end. As the artist explains: “I fell madly in love when I was 13, and for five years we were inseparable. But sometimes we’re powerless against change – this song is about the pain of growing apart, and accepting that sometimes we have to leave something behind in order to move forward.” It’s this forward-moving momentum that we can hear through the steadily marching beats and effervescent electronics that propel the listener through Skott’s lingering memories, crystallized in synth-pop bliss. - HT
